Radio Amateurs of Lebanon (RAL)

The Radio Amateurs of Lebanon (RAL) is the national society for radio amateurs and experimenters in Lebanon. Founded in 1952, RAL s a non commercial association of radio amateurs, organized for the promotion of interest in Amateur Radio communication and experimentation, for the establishment of networks to provide communication in the event of disasters or other emergencies, for the advancement of the radio art and for the public welfare, for the representation of the radio amateur in legislative matters, and for the maintenance of fraternalism and a high standard of conduct. RAL represents Amateur Radio operators in Lebanon and in government and public relation matters.

RAL is an incorporated association without capital stock chartered under the Lebanese law with a trademark registration at Ministry of Trade and Economy registration number: 11416. Its affairs are governed by a Board of Directors, whose voting members are elected every three years by the general membership. RAL is noncommercial, and no one who could gain financially from the shaping of its affairs is eligible for membership of its board.

RAL supports its members and Amateur Radio in:

  •  protecting frequencies at home and abroad;
  • supporting Ministry of Telecom enforcement;
  • delivering membership services including awards, QSL service, technical advice, and regulatory information;
  • supporting all Amateur Radio volunteers;
  • forging partnerships in public service;
  • Incorporating Amateur Radio in education to inspire the next generation.

There are no paid employees: administration and all other work done by its officers and members on behalf of RAL is done on a voluntary basis.

RAL is the member for Lebanon of the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU), and is affiliated to IARU Region 1.  The IARU represents the interests of the Amateur Radio Service worldwide.

To Join RAL, start by submitting a membership application. Click here . Membership fee is 50,000 L.L. everyone is welcome to join RAL. A bona fide interest in Amateur Radio is the only essential qualification of membership; an Amateur Radio license is not a prerequisite, although full voting membership is granted only to licensed amateurs in Lebanon.
